Hey everyone,
I recently added Match Image to the
Spelling Worksheet Maker. Students see a picture and work out which of their spelling words it shows. For that to work, every word needs a picture, and often more than one. "Bat" needs the animal and the baseball bat. "Bank" needs the place that keeps money and the side of a river.
A Picture for Every Meaning
In the past year teachers made more than 33,000 spelling lists using almost 43,000 different words. As of this week, every everyday meaning of every one of those words has its own picture. That's about 85,000 pictures. More than 42,000 have already been checked and are on the site, covering about 26,800 words.
Every Picture Gets Checked
The pictures are drawn by AI, and AI makes mistakes: a hand with no thumb, a paw with two toes, a picture that shows the wrong meaning of the word. So every picture is looked at by a person before it can show up on a worksheet, and anything that doesn't pass is redrawn and checked again.
So far that person has been me. I've gone through more than 48,000 pictures one at a time, and I'll be doing the final check on every one of them. That's a lot of pictures, which brings me to...
You Can Help, and Get a Day Without Ads

You may see a small banner at the top of the page asking if you'd like to help check pictures. Click Help check pictures and a window opens right on the page you're on. You'll see four pictures at a time. Tap any picture that doesn't show its word or description, then click Next.
Your checks catch the problems early, so the bad pictures get redrawn sooner and my final check goes a lot faster.
Every 16 pictures you check earns you a full day without ads. You don't need to sign in. If you're signed in, the days go on your account. If not, they're saved in your browser.
Before you start, it shows you a few pictures that were turned down, so you know what to look for:

No picture is decided by one person. Each one is checked by several people, and when they disagree it comes to me.
Not Interested?
No problem. Click No thanks on the banner and it's gone for good.
Thanks for helping make these better. As always, if you spot something weird,
let me know.
